This clinic welcomes drivers and equines of all experience levels, whether you're ground driving, refining fundamentals, or actively driving single or pair hitches. The weekend’s focus is on developing well-rounded, reliable driving horses, and confident, effective drivers.
Throughout the weekend, you’ll have the opportunity to work on the skills and activities that are most relevant to you, from dressage and reinsmanship to log skidding and workhorse skills. Individual lessons will address the specific needs of each horse-and-driver team, while group sessions will explore common themes and challenges in greater depth.
Key areas of focus will include effective use of the driving aids, developing good self-carriage and healthy movement, and practical skills that enhance your and your horse’s confidence and ability. Whether your goal is better dressage scores, more confidence driving in your own back field, or putting your horse to work in the vegetable garden or the woodlot, you'll gain practical tools and experience to take home and apply right away.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All lessons and group sessions will be held in the 60 x 120' indoor arena. The sand footing is not too deep, making it ideal for most driving equines.
Each participant will get one individual lesson each day. There will be theory classes and full group activities both days, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Connect with like-minded horse people, learn from each other, get inspired, and hone your skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
AMENITIES
The arena is well-insulated and tends to maintain a comfortable temperature, but please dress for the weather. Please bring your own chair, and blanket if desired. A washroom is available in the barn.
We will take a 45-minute lunch break each day. There will be water, tea, and light snacks available. Bring your own bagged lunch.
Indoor stalls available for participants (cash only):
$30 overnight (end-of-day Saturday until start-of-day Sunday)
$50 full weekend
If you opt to not rent a stall for the full weekend, your horse will wait at your trailer in between lessons.
Dry camping available for $25 cash / trailer (cash only). No hookups. Washroom available in the barn.
